Off to the Eastern Beaufort!

For the next eight days, I will be joining fifteen other scientists on the Norseman II for a scientific cruise to the Eastern Beaufort Sea. The Dunton lab contingent (Ken, Susan, Carrie, and I) will be looking at the sources and fates of carbon. We will be taking water samples to see how phytoplankton contribute carbon to the bottom of the food web, and sample the zooplankton and benthic (bottom-dwelling) animals to see the paths of the carbon up the food web. This means we will be kept very, very busy with water sampling, water filtering, plankton and zooplankton net sampling, mud grabs, mud sorting, and trawl sorting.  Follow where we are on the Norseman II using this link!
