I got my Master’s through the research-based joint BS/MS degree program in the Department of Biology at UCSD. I was advised by Paul Dayton at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
My research focused on determining if and how rocky intertidal invertebrate communities have changed over a 30+ year time period at two sites in San Diego. I did this by replicating two baseline surveys: one done by SIO graduate students in 1961 and 1963, and another done by the Bureau of Land Management from 1974-1979. I found that abundances of many species had decreased at one site, but not at the other. I believe that this is due to differences in the physical factors at each site which lead to different effects seen from climate shifts.
